CiTi BOCES is seeking a dynamic educational leader to oversee an Alternative Education program for high school students. This role involves providing leadership, guidance, and support to students, staff, and families in an alternative education setting. The Principal collaborates with teachers, counselors, community agencies, and other stakeholders to create a positive and effective learning environment for students who require alternative pathways to success.

Key Responsibilities:

1.  Program Leadership and Management:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the program.
  • Ensure compliance with state and district regulations related to alternative education.
  • Supervise and evaluate teaching staff, support personnel, and other program staff.
  • Monitor student progress and collaborate to adjust supports as needed to meet individual needs.

2.  Student Support and Advocacy:

  • Advocate for students’ academic, social, and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and community agencies to provide comprehensive support services.
  • Address behavioral and attendance issues through restorative practices and positive behavior interventions.

3.   Curriculum and Instruction:

  • Work with teachers to provide engaging and relevant curriculum.
  • Foster a student-centered approach to learning that accommodates diverse learning styles.
  • Promote project-based learning, experiential education, and personalized pathways.

4.  Community Engagement:

  • Build positive relationships with families, community organizations, and local businesses.
  • Organize events, workshops, and outreach efforts to involve families in their child’s education.
  • Collaborate with community partners to provide work-based learning opportunities.
  • Professional Development and Staff Training.
  • Provide ongoing professional development for staff related to alternative education best practices.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Special Education Teacher 7-12 or All Grades

(CiTi BOCES) is currently seeking a certified Special Education Teacher, preferably with experience teaching high school math and/or certified in math 7-12. As a special education teacher in a high school 6:1:2 classroom, you will provide specialized math instruction and support to a small group of students with very high needs in most or all needed areas, including academic, social and/or interpersonal development, physical development, and management. You will work collaboratively with 2 full-time paraprofessionals, a counselor, behavior specialist, administrator, and other related service providers to create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for your students. You will also implement individualized education plans (IEPs), monitor student progress, and communicate with families and other stakeholders.

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver instruction that is aligned with the New York State Learning Standards and the students’ IEP goals and objectives.
  • Use evidence-based practices and strategies to address the students’ behavioral, social, and emotional challenges and foster their self-regulation, communication, and social skills.
  • Provide frequent and positive feedback, reinforcement, and encouragement to the students.
  • Assess and document the students’ academic and functional performance using formal and informal measures.
  • Collaborate with the paraprofessionals, counselors, behavior specialists, administrators, and other related service providers to coordinate services and interventions for the students.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment that meets the students’ physical, sensory, and emotional needs.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with the students’ families, school staff, and other professionals involved in the students’ education.

CiTi BOCES is seeking New York State Certified Teachers to join our full-time team of virtual teachers.  Synergy Plus is a 100% virtual opportunity to deliver one to one or small group live virtual instruction based on student individual needs and subject areas during the school day.  

CiTi is seeking individuals who are flexible, creative, innovative, who think fluidly in a dynamic work environment, and will work to provide unique learning opportunities for students.  Candidates must have instructional technology skills, be well versed in virtual learning, or have an aptitude for virtual learning as well as being a quick learner.  Knowledge of instructional software and tools are a must and candidates must be able to foster a positive and engaging learning environment in a virtual community.  

Classes are taught in a synchronous interactive videoconferencing environment while using a learning management system platform.  Teachers are expected to conduct live virtual interactive classes, adapt teaching methods to suit a virtual learning environment, engage students in meaningful learning experiences, develop and implement tutoring materials, track student progress, and communicate with students, guardians, and school districts.  Strong collaboration, communication, and instructional technology skills are essential.

This is a unique opportunity for individuals who are passionate about education and possess the flexibility to thrive in a dynamic virtual learning environment. As a virtual tutor, you will play a crucial role in delivering personalized one-to-one or small group live virtual tutoring sessions to students during the school day.
