This position involves the responsibility for performing a number of personnel-related tasks. The employee is generally assigned to one or more specific areas of public personnel administration such as employee benefits or examination control and is given full responsibility for all routine transactions in that area. This may include correspondence, related record keeping, preparation of statistical and/or narrative reports, answering employee or public inquiries, etc.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typical activities characteristic of the class.
• Maintains personnel files for all employees, including application, correspondence, accrued leave time, performance
evaluation, etc.
• Maintains records and answers employee inquiries concerning such matters as health and life insurance, retirement,
Civil Service status, etc.
• Reports personnel changes, requests eligible lists, reclassification, payroll certification, etc.
• Supervises the preparation of payrolls, giving particular attention to Civil Service reporting requirements.
• Makes recommendations concerning personnel procedures to appropriate administrative personnel.
• Provides employees information about employee benefit programs.
•Determines employee eligibility for benefit programs.
