Job Description

The Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation (CiTi BOCES) invites you to apply to be a part of Synergy Plus, a virtual 6:1:2 special education program. Synergy Plus is a 100% virtual opportunity to deliver one to one or small group live virtual instruction based on student individual needs and subject areas during the school day.  While the program is virtual, the Behavior Systems Specialist is an in person position located on the CiTi BOCES Main Campus located in Mexico, NY.  

CiTi is seeking individuals who are flexible, creative, innovative, who think fluidly in a dynamic work environment, and will work to provide unique learning opportunities for students.  Candidates must have instructional technology skills, be well versed in virtual learning, or have an aptitude for virtual learning as well as being a quick learner.  Knowledge of instructional software and tools are a must and candidates must be able to foster a positive and engaging learning environment in a virtual community.  Strong collaboration, communication, and instructional technology skills are essential.

Position Overview: CiTi BOCES is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Behavior Systems Specialist to join our Virtual Synergy Plus 6:1:2 program. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in understanding and addressing student behavior, conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), and developing effective Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). This role requires a strong foundation in multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and the ability to implement tiered behavioral interventions in classroom settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • • Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) to identify the root causes of student behavior.

    • Develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) tailored to individual student needs.

    • Analyze behavioral data to monitor progress and adjust interventions as necessary.

    • Collaborate with teachers, support staff , and parents to create a cohesive approach to student behavior management.

    • Support the implementation of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) in classrooms.

    • Provide training and guidance to staff on effective behavioral strategies and interventions.

    • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in behavior management.

    • Provide immediate crisis response and intervention to de-escalate situations, ensure students and staff safety, and implement appropriate follow-up strategies.  

Job Qualifications

 

• New York State certification in School Psychology, School Counseling, or School Social Work.

• Experience working with special education students and understanding their unique behavioral needs.

• Proficiency in conducting FBAs, writing BIPs, and analyzing behavioral data.

• Strong knowledge of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and experience in implementing tiered behavioral interventions.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff.

• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
