The Music Therapist will be responsible for evaluating, planning and providing music therapy treatment to students with disabilities in accordance with written prescription or policy. The incumbent works with individuals or small groups of children. This position involves no responsibility for teaching or course curriculum development. The therapy is individualized to the needs of children through evaluation and assessment.
Administrative direction is received from the Principal and Supervisor of Itinerant Services or the Director of Exceptional and Alternative Education. Supervision over the work of others is not a responsibility of employees in this class. The incumbent performs related work as required.

Must be Civil Service eligible. Possession of a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy.
GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF: the principles, techniques and practices of music therapy; good musical instrumentation and equipment used in music therapy; community resources available to support or supplement the music therapy program.
ABILITY TO: evaluate, plan and execute music therapy treatments for students; ability to get along well with others; communicates effectively both orally and in writing; prepare reports.
