The ENL Teacher supports English Learners enrolled in the Migrant Summer School at Sodus Central CSD program by providing engaging, language-rich instruction that promotes English proficiency and academic growth. The teacher designs lessons that integrate language development with grade-level content, ensuring students strengthen their communication, reading, and writing skills while gaining confidence as learners.
Key Responsibilities:
English Language Instruction: Provide English Language instruction to students at various proficiency levels, including listening, reading, speaking and writing skills.
Plan and deliver daily ENL instruction aligned with NYS English Language Development Standard and the Migrant Education program goals.
Differentiate lessons to meet a range of language proficiency levels and academic needs.
Incorporate culturally responsive teaching strategies that value migrant students' backgrounds and experiences.
Collaborate with classroom teachers, migrant educators, administrators and support staff to reinforce English language development across subjects.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation and language growth.
Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and professional development as scheduled.
Support a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages language practice and mutual respect
Position is seasonal, 5 weeks during the summer, hours and grade levels may vary.
