Job Description

CiTi BOCES Career & Technical Education (CTE) department is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Assistant Principal to join its leadership team. The Assistant Principal supports the principal in fostering a safe, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment that promotes student achievement, strong school culture, and operational excellence.


Position Overview

The Assistant Principal provides leadership in instruction, student support, school operations, and community engagement. The successful candidate will be a visible and collaborative leader who builds strong relationships with students, staff, and families.


Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Leadership

Supervise and evaluate staff in accordance with NYSED guidelines.

Support curriculum implementation and instructional improvement.

Promote high levels of student engagement and academic achievement.

Use data to inform decision-making and school improvement efforts.

Student Support & School Culture

Oversee student attendance, discipline, and behavioral supports.

Support implementation of MTSS and other intervention systems.

Promote a positive, inclusive, and restorative school climate.

Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and support staff to ensure student success.

Operations & Compliance

Assist with scheduling, staffing, and daily school operations.

Ensure compliance with NYSED regulations and district policies.

Support safety planning and crisis response procedures.

Family & Community Engagement

Serve as a liaison between school and families.

Support communication with community partners.

Represent the school at events and meetings as needed.

Job Qualifications

New York State School Building Leader (SBL) certification (or eligibility).

Successful experience as a classroom teacher is required; experience in CTE is preferred.

Demonstrated leadership capacity and strong communication skills.

Knowledge of NYS graduation requirements, instructional best practices, and student support systems.
