Job Description

 Oswego County P-TECH is seeking a certified, student-centered Student Support Teacher (Long-Term Substitute) for the 2025–2026 school year. This role is designed to support high school students engaged in asynchronous and self-directed learning. The position emphasizes ensuring student success by monitoring progress, coaching students through college-level expectations, and maintaining a structured and supportive classroom environment. Position is .6 FTE (3 days per week).

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support students enrolled in asynchronous high school and college-level courses.
  • Guide students in meeting deadlines and understanding course syllabi and assignments.
  • Meet individually or in small groups with students to coach them on college-level skills such as time management, study strategies, and navigating course expectations.
  • Coach students in developing organizational skills, persistence, and accountability.
  • Cover Learning Labs where students are expected to complete assignments, independent reading, or continue their progress in the IXL program.
  • Maintain an engaging and well-managed classroom where independent learning is prioritized.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students to promote success and motivation.
  • Track and analyze student progress in the IXL intervention program.
  • Share data and make recommendations to the MTSS committee and subject-area teachers regarding interventions and student growth.
     

Job Qualifications
  • Valid NYS teaching certification (all subject areas considered).
  • Strong classroom management skills to keep students focused and engaged.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with high school students.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for monitoring multiple courses.
  • Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn school-based systems.
