Job Description

The Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation (CiTi BOCES) invites you to apply for the Early College Specialist as part of a new BOCES service called Early College Access.  The Early College Specialist is responsible for the supporting districts in planning, implementation, oversight, and evaluation of Early College programs and services for CiTi’s participating districts. The Early College Specialist collaborates with 1-2 districts participating in the Early College Access Service.   

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Title Specific:
        1. Support all aspects of the Early College Access Program under the direction of the participating districts, colleges, and BOCES;
        2. Collaborating with the partners for this program. Partners include the colleges, component districts including administration and faculty, the students, and families;
        3. Envision, create, promote, and support new Early College programs and services that relate to the needs of the participating districts;
        4. Develop and update best practices and training materials to help others to implement early college opportunities.
  • Program Responsibilities:
      1. Provide support and planning for an Early College continuum of services within participating districts;
      2. Work in collaboration with K-12 Partnerships staff to evaluate course offerings in area high schools, on campus and via distance learning to assist in the creation of meaningful pathways;
      3. Oversee course offerings at each high school to keep EC students on track to program completion;
      4. Provide academic advising oversight for EC students, and work with college advising staff to support K-12 school counselors in EC advising;
      5. Collaborate with
        1. Districts and College’s applied learning staff and partner with industry to scaffold early vocational exposure, and coordinate industry mentoring;
        2. Partners including parents, industry and secondary education to be a community/ stakeholder liaison;
        3. College staff to help coordinate on-campus experiences for high school students and support for EC students studying on the College campus and via distance learning;
      6. Oversee EC student registration and records maintenance; 
      7. Create, implement, and maintain a communication plan and all related materials, such as website, brochures, handouts, general information summaries, and newsletters for EC;
      8. Facilitate college visitations and job shadowing as applicable;
      9. Maintain professional and effective relationships with College and high school faculty, administration and staff in order to effectively transition students from high school to College;
      10. Work with College and high school staff to develop and conduct informational seminars and workshops for EC students; 
      11. Assist with the development and assessment of program activities, goals and objectives relating directly to EC programs;  
      12. Develop programming for early career exploration in elementary and middle school;
      13. Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications
  • New York State Teacher or Counselor Certification;
  • Five (5) years of classroom teaching or counseling experience;
  • College in the high school experience preferred.
