Job Description

Oswego County PTECH  is seeking an innovative, student-centered Mathematics Teacher to join our dynamic STEM learning community. We are looking for a math educator who is passionate about teaching priority standards with clarity and depth, while fostering problem-solving, critical thinking, and real-world application skills in students. Our instruction goes beyond test preparation to foster deep understanding, critical thinking, and real-world application of knowledge.

The teacher will:

  • Build strong foundational skills through Algebra 1 instruction.
  • Deliver a preparatory Algebra 2 course designed to ready students for the rigor of college-level mathematics.
  • Emphasize essential real-world math skills — including measurement, percentages, and fractions — critical for success in technical fields.
  • Support real-world application of math skills through a hands-on Math Lab model, connecting fluency and theory to technical, career-oriented challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach priority Algebra 1 standards and essential real-world math concepts (measurement, percentages, fractions) with a focus on deep understanding, fluency, and problem-solving.
  • Design and teach an Algebra 2 course to strengthen algebraic reasoning and prepare students for college-level math demands.
  • Develop and facilitate Math Lab activities where students apply math through hands-on projects, technical simulations, and career-related tasks.
  • Bridge math instruction with practical applications such as blueprint reading, electrical circuit calculations, data analysis, tolerances, and fabrication measurements.
  • Embed problem-based learning and application-based instruction into daily practice.
  • Use formative assessments to monitor student mastery of standards and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Collaborate with STEM and technology teachers to design cross-disciplinary projects aligned to real-world technical fields.
  • Provide students with timely, actionable feedback to guide growth in fluency, conceptual understanding, and technical problem-solving.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes mathematical inquiry, creativity, career readiness, and real-world competence.
Job Qualifications
  • Valid teaching certification in Mathematics (7–12) or related subject area.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
