Job Description

Oswego County PTECH is seeking a creative, flexible, and dynamic individual to join our innovative STEM-focused learning community. This position is ideal for an educator passionate about supporting literacy development through authentic, project-based learning, interdisciplinary experiences, and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS). Our instruction goes beyond test preparation to foster deep understanding, critical thinking, and real-world application of knowledge.

The Literacy and Humanities Teacher will:

  • Collaborate with STEM and core content teachers to strengthen students’ reading and writing skills 
  • Provide literacy instructional support in classrooms.
  • Assist with literacy interventions through an online learning platform.
  • Lead an elective course based on student interests in the arts, communication, or humanities.
  • Serve on the MTSS team to document and review student progress in alignment with priority ELA standards and literacy goals.

Job Qualifications

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a literacy and humanities specialist, co-teaching and supporting reading and writing development within STEM courses.
  • Facilitate small-group and individualized literacy interventions using an online platform.
  • Design and teach an elective course aligned with student interests in arts, communication, or humanities fields.
  • Embed project-based learning strategies that emphasize authentic writing, research, and communication tasks.
    Collaborate with STEM, arts, and technology teachers to integrate ELA skills into cross-curricular projects.
  • Support students in creating high-quality, real-world products for industry and community partners.
  • Build positive relationships with students to foster a love of reading, writing, and inquiry.
  • Serve as an active member of the MTSS team, assisting with data collection, progress monitoring, and intervention planning in alignment with priority ELA standards.
  • Monitor student progress, provide ongoing feedback, and communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff.
  • Participate in professional development focused on literacy strategies, STEM integration, MTSS practices, and project-based learning.
