Job Description

CiTi BOCES is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. This position involves teaching high school age students with autism who are alternately assessed. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with disabilities and a strong commitment to providing individualized support and instruction.

 Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with autism.
• Adapt and modify curriculum to meet the unique needs of each student.
• Utilize alternate assessment methods to evaluate student progress and performance.
• Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters learning and development.
• Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to ensure comprehensive care.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and IEP goals.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
• Experience working with students with autism and knowledge of New York State Alternate Assessment.
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with autism.
