Job Description

The CTE Advantage Math teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality math instruction to students in grades 9-12, integrating & applying mathematical concepts with various technical disciplines. The teacher will work closely with other educators to create a comprehensive curriculum that supports both academic and technical skill development, preparing students for success in college and their future careers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mathematics education, a passion for career and technical education, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively develop high school math curriculum.
  • Deliver engaging math lessons that align with New York State standards and the students’ IEP needs.
  • Collaborate with other instructors to create interdisciplinary projects and assessments.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to support diverse learners.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and attendance.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student enjoyment, engagement and success.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support student learning and development.
  • Participate in weekly MTSS; collect, contribute, and analyze student program data to increase achievement and outcomes.
  • Participate in larger, district-wide Math PLC.
     
Job Qualifications
  • Valid New York State teaching certification in Mathematics 7-12 (or ability & willingness to obtain certification). Students with Disabilities 7-12 mathematics dual certification is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience teaching math at the secondary level, preferably prior experience teaching regents-ending courses.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to use technology effectively to enhance instruction and student learning.
  • Experience with project-based learning and real-world applications of math.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and certifications relevant to CTE programs.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies for diverse and inclusive classrooms.
  • Ability to create and adapt curriculum materials that align to NYS Math standards.
